AMD has officially unveiled its graphics upscaling technology, FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3). The new feature is designed as a competitor to Nvidia’s DLSS 3.5 technology, which will give graphics and performance boosts to some key games.
What games support AMD FSR 3?
FSR 3 was unveiled by AMD at the Gamescom 2023 event. One of the most important innovations of the new technology is “Fluid Motion Frames”. It will also make almost a 3-fold difference in some games in terms of performance.
AMD announced that the games that will support FSR3 include Forspoken, Immortals of Aveum, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Cyberpunk 2077 and more. However, Starfield, which will be released in September, was not included in the list of the first supported games.
In a benchmark test of Forspoken at 4K ultra-high settings, AMD proved the success of FSR3. The technology boosted the frame rate from 36 FPS to 122 FPS, a 3x increase.
- Forspoken
- Immortals of Aveum
- Avatar Frontiers of Pandora
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Warhammer 40K: Space Marine II
- Frostpunk 2
- ADERS
- SQUAD
- Starship Troopers Extermination
- Black Myth WUKONG
- Crimson Desert
- Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth
AMD has not announced which graphics cards will support FSR 3. However, it confirmed that it will work on Radeon RX 7000, 6000 and older models. FSR3 will also be available on Nvidia and PlayStation/Xbox.
AMD stated that RX 7900, 7800, 6900 and 6800 series graphics cards should be purchased for the actual performance of FSR3. Frame generation will not be supported on other models, which means that there may be a drop in performance.
